Providing compassionate Counselling & Psychotherapy services to individuals

At Pebblecairn Counselling & Psychotherapy I offer one to one counselling and psychotherapy to clients in the Scottish Borders and online throughout the UK. My pluralistic approach allows me to tailor methods to meet the unique needs of each individual, working in collaboration and providing a safe and supportive environment for personal growth and healing.

If you're struggling with anxiety, I am here to help. We'll work together to help you find the most helpful ways to address the anxiety that you are experiencing.
Depression can make it difficult to enjoy life and engage in activities you once loved. Working together we can identify what is affecting your mood and help you to feel more like yourself again.
Stress is a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. Sometimes talking to friends of family can be difficult as you may not want to burden them, counselling is the space where you can speak freely and find ways to manage your stress levels.

Welcome to Pebblecairn Counselling and Psychotherapy, I'm Jason and I'm a COSCA (Scotland's professional body for Counselling and Psychotherapy) validated and qualified pluralistic counsellor and psychotherapist. I have worked in the third sector and in private practice. I provide a safe, compassionate space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered.
I believe that healing begins with connection, and that therapy should honour your individuality, strengths, and lived experience.
I’ve supported clients through a wide spectrum of issues—from neurodivergence and identity exploration to grief, burnout, and life transitions. I also bring experience from my own life and community projects, reflecting my commitment to inclusive, socially aware practice.
If you’re looking for a therapist who meets you with warmth, flexibility, and respect, I’d be glad to hear from you.
Let’s begin where you are.

I hold the following qualifications:
COSCA Certificate In Counselling Skills
(SCQF Level 8)
Diploma In Pluralistic Counselling & Psychotherapy
(SCQF Level 10)

My approach is pluralistic—meaning I tailor therapy to suit your unique needs, preferences, and goals. Whether you're navigating anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship challenges, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, we’ll work collaboratively to find what helps you most.
I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities including Person-Centred Therapy, CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Mindfulness-based approaches.
As a pluralistic counsellor, my approach is centred on flexibility, collaboration, and respect for your individuality. I recognise that each person is unique, and therefore, a one size fits all method is not effective.

Core Principles of My Pluralistic Approach
1. Collaborative Partnership
We work together to determine the most effective approaches for you. Your input is invaluable in shaping the direction of our sessions. This partnership ensures that therapy is aligned with your evolving needs and aspirations.
2. Flexibility and Adaptability
I integrate various therapeutic methods, such as Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic approaches, to suit your individual needs. This flexibility allows us to adapt our approach as your circumstances and goals change.
3. Client-Centred Focus
You are at the heart of the therapeutic process. I respect and incorporate your cultural, social, and individual differences into our work together. This inclusivity ensures that therapy is relevant and respectful of your identity.
4. Outcome-Oriented Therapy
We focus on achieving specific outcomes that you find meaningful. Regular reviews of our progress allow us to adjust strategies as needed, ensuring that therapy remains effective and relevant to your goals.
5. Holistic and Strengths-Based Approach
I view you as resourceful and full of agency, an active partner in the process of change. Together, we identify your strengths and resources, building a comprehensive plan that addresses various aspects of your life.
How We Can Work Together
Exploring Your Current Experiences
We can create a safe, non-judgmental space to talk through your current feelings and experiences. Looking at the Past: If you wish, we can explore past events to better understand how they have shaped your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours today.
Learning Tools and Techniques
We can focus on strategies to manage daily challenges like anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or overwhelming emotions. These might include relaxation or mindfulness techniques, journaling prompts, or cognitive strategies.
Together, we'll explore what’s most important to you and find the approach that works best for your hopes and goals. If you're unsure about what you need right now, that's okay—we'll figure it out together.
Pebblecairn counselling offers one to one counselling to all adults over 18.
If you decide after your initial free introduction session that we are a good fit and would like to continue working together, we would then arrange to start our first therapeutic session. During this session I will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counselling.
You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process. We will work collaboratively to establish goals for therapy and agree first steps together.
A counseling session with Pebblecairn Counselling lasts for 50 minutes.
I offer a free initial 30 minute session to see how you feel about working with me. Please contact me below to arrange an initial session.
All counselling sessions are strictly confidential, the only exception to this is if you or another was at serious risk of harm then I may need to break confidentiality to keep you or others safe.
I always offer an initial 30 minute session free of charge.
If we decide that we are a good fit to work together the charge per session is £50.
I will always reply to your enquiry within 48 hours
